What a fabulous time the Grade R - 3 children and their parents who attended the Camp Out on Friday evening had. They camped out on the field through to Saturday morning and the buzz as they set up their tents, chatted and played was amazing. We are already looking forward to this time next year!! A fabulous, funfilled time was had by the Grade R's of 2012, together with their families, on the evening of 8 February. Parents and grandparents sat chatting on picnic blankets while munching away on their delicious eats. The Grade R's had fantastic fun showing off their playground equipment to their siblings, parents and grandparents. The weather for the picnic was absolutely superb. A wonderful evening, organised by our Events Co-Ordinator, Debbie Slabbert, was enjoyed on Tuesday 7 February to welcome our new parents to the school. The event was attended by staff, Governing Body members and new parents to the school. Guests listened to the wonderful sounds of our Arts & Culture Head, Mrs Tessa Horn-Botha and her husband Philip, playing the keyboard and the violin. Staff and Governing Body members mingled with the parents and a super evening was had by all. (More photographs of the event are available on the website Photo Gallery)

Arts and Culture incorporates dance as an art form. We were most fortunate in having the SA Ballroom Dance Champion, Stephanie van der Poll, together with U/16 SA champion Latin and Ballroom dancers, Kelsey Fransman and Garth Ross at our school on Tuesday 31 January 2012. Stephanie hosted a dance workshop and exhibition for our Grade 4 - 7 pupils. She spoke to the pupils about the training and commitment required in this discipline and was able to demonstrate the ballroom dances for our learners together with Daniel Jacobs who came especially to assist with the demonstration. Our learners thoroughly enjoyed the presentation ... some even tried a few waltz steps themselves.
Mavis and Ashley Jacobs, Stephanie's ballroom dance coaches, accompanied Stephanie and were able to share with us the technical aspects of dance and how one gets started on the road to becoming a ballroom dance champion. Kelsey Fransman and Garth Ross demonstrated both Latin and Ballroom dances for our excited learners. These young dancers are only 13 and 14 years of age respectively.
We wish Stephanie, Daniel, Kelsey and Garth all the very best for their competitions overseas. Stephanie left the following day to compete in Italy.
