We are fortunate to have a group of professionals who work together as a team to form the Education Support Unit. Our vision is to enable every learner to reach their full potential and to assist educators with learners with specific needs in their classes.
Our remedial educators offer support to learners with specific needs in Mathematics and Language, and in so doing, help educators whose time needs to be focused on the class as a whole. An Occupational Therapist as well as a Speech and Language Therapist offer further support to these learners, particularly in the Foundation Phase.
Learners who benefit from extension work are also well catered for. Our Enrichment Programme offers both small group learning, as well as whole class extension, focusing on developing critical, strategic and creative thinking.
Completing our team are our counselors, a Psychologist, Art Psychotherapist and Social Worker, who work with learners with emotional, social and behavioural difficulties.
All therapies are accessed via our Education Support Team, which meets on a weekly basis, and makes appropriate recommendations to presenting educators. Parents may also refer learners to the EST for discussion, but need to do this via the learner's class educator.
